Junior high parents,
We passed out band polo shirts to 7th graders today. Make sure they brought one home! If you have not already done so, please send in a check for $20, made out to AWBB.
We will be having 2 after school rehearsals next week from 2:40-3:30 on Tuesday and Thursday. Ideally we would like students to make both, but if they have a conflict try to have them make it to one! I have contacted JH coaches about students in volleyball, cross country, football etc to work out which day they can come.
I am very pleased with how our music is coming along so far! Usually we are sweating it trying to get the combined piece prepared, but both grades are handling it well. Have your 8th graders show you the steps to We Got the Beat and Land of a Thousand Dances this weekend. :)
Thanks!
Mrs. Wilson
Dear Parents,
I hope your children had a good first week of school. It was HOT, so today we took the band to the high school to rehearse. I don't like doing this because we lose rehearsal time but I was feeling light headed myself, and I didn't want kids getting sick!
Please make sure you child practices this weekend at least once for 30 minutes. We have 2 pieces right now, We Got the Beat and Land of a Thousand Dances. The should also play through their practice packet I made them.
We will be doing band polo fittings in class on Tuesday or Wednesday next week. As a reminder the polo shirt is $20. Checks can be made out to AWBB.
I also sent home rental agreement forms for students to complete and get back to me ASAP. Students who play percussion, tuba, baritone, bass clarinet, tenor sax or any student who wants to use a school instrument, like trombone and bring their mouthpiece must fill this out and pay the $25 rental fee. Let me know if you have any additional questions about this.
I have attached a letter I sent home with the band today regarding some details for our upcoming showcase performance on September 17th. More details to follow about the Friday September 16th post game performance. Please review this carefully.
If there is a conflict with either dates I need a note in my hand by Wednesday, September 7th for it to be considered as an excused absence.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Mrs. Wilson
