Concert Date Change – Take 2

The quest to find a concert date continues.....After deciding to move the Concert to Wednesday because of the change in the Primary Date, it has come to our attention that Wednesday is college night at Owens. After discussing this with Mrs. Hoellrich, we have decided to move the concert to Monday, March 5 at 7:00pm. This caused a conflict with the booster meeting, so now the Booster Meeting will be held on Tuesday, March 6 at 7:00pm. We can still get into the band room while the polls are open. Sorry for the confusion and thanks for your understanding.

Solo and Ensemble

Solo and Ensemble AE will be held this Saturday at Bowling Green High School. Students have been told of their performance times and room assignments and a packet with maps and other information will be available this week. Family and friends are welcome to attend, but there should be no recording, audio or visual, in the performance areas.

Please continue to work on your solos and ensembles on your own. If interested in after school help, please see a director. Entries fees for S&E will again be paid by the band boosters. Most solos require a piano accompaniment at AE. Students will be responsible for acquiring their own accompanist. We do have several people who are willing to accompany for $35 which will include two rehearsals and the performance the day of contest.

Jazz Band rehearsals will be only one day a week (Thursday) until solo and ensemble is over so that we can have some extra after school time to work with students.

BGSU Honors Band

Congratulations to the students who performed in the Bowling Green State University Honors Band this past weekend. The musicians who represented Anthony Wayne were Caitlin Reyes, Thomas Rabuano, Anna Rowe, and Greg Archer.

The Jazz Band will perform at the Whitehouse Fire Department Breakfast on Sunday, December 11^th. We will perform twice; once at 10:30 and once at 11:30am. Jazz Band members should meet at the High School at 9:45am.

Pep Band

Pep Band starts this week. Anyone is welcome to play in pep band for any game. To receive the pep band award, students must attend 8 of the performances. Sign up sheets will be posted in the band room to keep track of instrumentation for each performance.

We will hold our first Jazz Band meeting and rehearsal on Tuesday from 3:00 – 4:00pm. Students who would like to participate should plan to stay after school on November 15^th.

Toledo Holiday Parade

The Toledo Holiday Parade will be this Saturday, November 19 at 10:00am. The report time will be 8:00am at the high school. We are the first band in the parade. Rides should be ready to go by 12:00pm at the high school.

Symphonic Band Concert

The Symphonic Band will be presenting a concert on Thursday, November 10 at 7:00pm in the auditorium. The band will be playing the same concert that will be presented at Capital University on November 18 as part of the Capital University New Band Music Reading Clinic. Report time for the Symphonic Band will be 6:15pm.

Siena Heights

On November 12, the marching band will be traveling to Siena Heights in Adrian, Michigan to perform for the halftime of their football game. Students should report at 10:00am and will depart by 10:30. Lunch will be provided for the students by Siena Heights. The game starts at 1:00pm and family and friends can purchase tickets at Siena Heights for $5.00. Students return to AW at about 5:00pm

Toledo Holiday Parade

As you may have noticed from earlier information, the AW band will be participating in the Toledo Holiday Parade this year instead of the BG Holiday Parade. The date for the Toledo Parade is November 19^th (still the same date) and the report time will be 7:30 and we will be done by noon.

Happy Halloween!

This is going to be a busy couple of weeks. The football team has made playoffs, so we have at least one more game. Students: Thanks for all the hard work you put in. Parents: Thanks for all your support through chaperoning, serving on committees, cheering for us at performances, and many other supportive activities.

Playoff Game

The football team has qualified for the playoffs and we will be traveling to the game also. The game will be played versus Whitmer in the Whitmer Stadium at 7:00pm on Saturday, November 5. We will meet at 4:15pm to run practice and run through the show. The boosters will provide dinner around 5:00pm and we will leave for the game by 6:00pm. Students should be picked up at AW no later than 10:30pm.

Kentucky Trip
Deposits for the Kentucky Trip may still be turned in. The cost is $50 and checks can be made out to AWBB. Please put the deposits in the band booster lock box. After this Friday, we will no longer take deposits. If you are still interested in going, but unable to turn in your deposit, please contact Tom Schreiber (tschreiber@earthlink.net) to make other arrangements. Forms to request financial assistance can be picked up from Mr. Young or will soon be available at the AW Band site.
