Volunteer opportunities

Web site editor

Do you visit this web site often and find it somewhat useful (but wish it was a little bit better)? Do you notice typos and have the urge to fix them? Do you have a few hours to spare each week where you can review the web site and add missing information?

If so, then you should volunteer to help out by becoming an editor for the Anthony Wayne Band Booster web site.

Some of the things you would do as the web site editor:

  • Sign into the web site every few days to select what information appears on the home page. Remove older information and tag new information so that is easy to find. (Less than 1 hour per week)
  • Review the weekly newsletter (on Sunday nights, usually) and make any updates or additions for the week. This often includes adding a few events to the calendar. (About 1 hour per week)
  • When an email blast goes out, make sure the web site has the correct information as well. Not all emailed information is posted on the site, but most is. (About 1 hour per week but highly variable)
  • Help other volunteers, as needed, post information themselves. (About 1 hour per month)
  • Maintain some of the more important pages (About 1 hour per month).

If you are interested, use the Contact form and select "web site feedback". If you want to start small, you can choose to focus on just 1 of the activities above. If is easy - and fun - and with an added benefit that you really get a sense of all of the wonderful band booster activities this way.

2010 Showcase of Bands: Volunteers Needed

It's time once again to get ready for the Anthony Wayne Marching Generals Showcase of Bands. Show date is September 18, 2010.

To put this show together it takes many volunteers and we need your help. Anyone donating his or her time to help with the show will get into the show for free.

We need help in the following areas:

  • Concessions: We need several people to work a shift at the concession stand during the show.
  • Greeters: We need one or two people to play host/hostess to each visiting band. Your day is spent directing them to the different areas during the show. This job is very easy to do.
  • Tickets: We need people to sell tickets in the ticket booth before the show.
  • 50/50 Tickets: Help sell tickets for the 50/50 raffle.
  • Booster Wear: A couple people are needed to help sell items at the Booster Table.
  • Clean up: Several people are needed to help clean up after the show. The more people helping the quicker the job gets done. Usually many people show up to help with this and it doesn’t take very long.

If you are interested at all in helping out please e-mail Robin Michael at rrmichael@aol.com.

Cookies, Roasters and Coolers needed too!

If you’d like to bake cookies for the show, we need 2 cookies each but in baggies to be passed out to the band students. If you’d like to donate a couple dozen cookies please e-mail Marie Archer at march4@roadrunner.com.

If you have a cooler or roaster we can use for the show you may also e-mail Marie Archer.

This day is a really fun day not only for the kids but for the parents as well but to make it a success it takes people who care enough about out students to get involved. If you’ve never volunteered for the show before give it a try.

2010 Volunteer Form

Volunteers make our band booster group the successful organization that it is. Please take a few minutes to review the 2010 – 2011 volunteer opportunities available to support your Anthony Wayne bands (in the form, PDF). If any of the committees, events, or other opportunities are of interest to you, please circle the opportunity, complete the form with your name, address, phone number, and e-mail address and turn it in at either the August 2nd booster meeting or your student’s uniform fitting session.

FanClub Card booth volunteers needed

Volunteers are needed to assist with the Fan Club Card booth at Roche de Boeuf on September 26th (9am to 4pm) in Waterville.  The Fan Club Card booth (corner of Farnsworth and Second St. at Smedlap Smithy's) is going to be right next to the Band Booster wear booth for convenience of students and parents taking shifts together.  Especially needed are our parents that have enjoyed using their Fan Club Card as they can give the best testimony and further our sales in face-to-face conversations.  Anyone interested in volunteering can contact me at gpschaffer@earthlink.net.
